Musky Festival June 25-28, 2009
Hayward's largest summer celebration of the Northwoods and great fishing history, the Festival takes place the weekend following Father's Day weekend each year in downtown Hayward. The weekend includes the crowning of our Musky Festival Queen, sidewalk sales, large handmade art & craft show, live music, children's games, great food booths, Musky Run, fishing contest and a carnival. Everyone will enjoy Midwest known music groups during Friday and Saturday night street dances while enjoying the Lions and Rotary beer tents. The whole weekend concludes with a large Parade on Sunday.
Honor The Earth Pow-Wow July 17-19, 2009
The largest Pow-wow in North America, the Honor the Earth Pow-wow celebrates the annual gathering of the tribes to honor mother earth and the Creator in celebratory drumming, dancing and song the 3rd weekend of July in Hayward. Traditional Native American music, dancing, crafts and food create an authentic tribal experience. The Lac Courtes Orielles Royalty Coronation, special recognition ceremonies, social singing and dancing, a traditional arts cooking contest, a run/walk, softball tournament and golf tournament are among the featured events.
Lumberjack World Championships July 24-26, 2009
The thunder of chainsaws, the quick feet of log rollers, the brute strength of sawyers and choppers plus the amazing agility and speed of the pole climbers will not allow your heart to stop pounding throughout this amazing world championship event! The Lumberjack World Championships® is recognized as the premiere timber sporting event in the nation where lumberjacks and lumberjills from around the world including; the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand compete for the gold. Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival September 18-20, 2009
Each year in mid-September, thousands of fat tired fliers descend on the towns of Cable and Hayward in northwestern Wisconsin to take on the off road bicycle tests of endurance and agility offered during the Chequamegon Festival weekend. Since its inception in 1983, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival has built a popularity and reputation that is unmatched in the sport today. From the 27 hardy cyclists who lined up to challenge the unknown trails of the Chequamegon in the first year, to the sold out limited field of 2,500 who are chosen by a random lottery, the Festival has earned the title of the "Nation's Most Popular Off Road Bicycle Adventure."
Hayward Fall Festival September 26, 2009
Fall welcomes art & crafts booths, wonderful food booths, a farmer's market and live music to the Main Street in downtown Hayward. This annual fall tradition is a wonderful celebration of the Areas true colors.
